JAIPUR: A retried FSL official and his wife sustained multiple injuries after they fell off their scooter when two bike-borne snatchers violently grabbed the elderly woman's chain on the Dayanand Marg under the Adarsh Nagar police station area.
Dr.
Surya Shekhar Daga (65) and his wife Madhu
Daga (62) were injured in the violent snatching incident that took place on June 5, the FIR, however, was registered on Friday.
Daga said that he has injuries on his head and hand, and his wife has two injuries on her body.
The incident took place when the elderly couple was travelling from
Shanti Path to Dayanand Marg. As soon as they arrived on the Dayanand Marg road, the two accused on a bike moved precariously close to Daga's scooter.
As per the FIR, Daga said that he lost his scooter's balance when the accused snatched his wife's chain. The elderly couple were knocked off their two-wheeler, even as the accused fled away with one-half of the chain.
A resident of
Tilak Nagar, Daga said in his complaint that the incident took place around 4.30 pm. The Adarsh Nagar police station has registered an FIR under IPC Sections 392 (robbery).
The latest incident comes close on the heels of a similar case, wherein a woman was travelling with her mother on a scooter on May 27 when two accused snatched her mother's purse which had Rs 13,500 and a mobile phone. When she chased them on her scooter, the accused pushed their vehicle, Arora and her mother fell on the road and sustained multiple injuries in the
Jawahar Nagar police station area.
The Jawahar Nagar police had arrested two accused involved in the case, but the latest incident with the elderly couple has raised serious questions about the uptick in violent chain snatching incidents.
