NAGPUR: Environment Day is a day for everyone to take fresh guard to continue battle against triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature loss and pollution to save the earth as one, said Shrikant Tekade, former State Wildlife Board member in an awareness programme organized by Institute of Environment, Ecology, Health & Management (IEEHM) at its Nagpur branch office on the eve of World Environment Day.
The institute conducts social surveys for environmental awareness, plantation etc. Tekade, in his speech expressed fear that in the speedy process of reviving economy followed by Covid pandemic, the most diverse country like India is under threat to lose part of the diversity, but the policy holders should not ignore the ecosystem as the health of forest is the measuring key of any sound economic region.
Tekade said, “2022 is probably the seventh warmest summer and in the recent years our state in particular has been witnessing many disastrous impacts like flooding, cloud bursting, cyclones etc.”
