On Sunday, Jaggi Vasudev aka Sadhguru, spiritual guru of Coimbatore's Isha Foundation, launched the Mumbai leg of Save Soil project at BKC, Bandra. This is the campaign's 534th event. Earlier, the Sadhguru arrived in Mumbai for the Save Soil Movement after visiting Nashik.
State tourism and environment minister, Aaditya Thackeray, signed an MoU with Isha Outreach, the social arm of Isha Foundation as commitment by the government to save soil and an assurance to the people that all the necessary steps will be taken towards soil regeneration in the state.
Earlier, Sadhguru met Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray and presented him a soil policy Handbook.
The event began with a performance by Machel Montano. Actress Juhi Chawla proposed a vote of thanks.
Sadhguru also launched the third edition of Majhi Vasundhara, an innovative initiative undertaken by the Department of environment and climate change.
He said, “Soil is the foundation of life. The required organic content in soil should be 3 per cent- 6 per cent, whereas India’s soil contains just 0.6 per cent. This policy will not help the nations but also the farmers.
