Maharashtra: Two booked for refusing to return borrowed jewellery

KALYAN: The two brothers who borrowed jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh from a jeweller for display during the opening ceremony of their shop were booked for cheating after they refused to return the ornaments.
The accused have been identified as Vishwanath Jagtap and his cousin Sagar Salunkhe.
According to police, complainant Dhansukh Jain, who deals in wholesale trading of gold ornaments, in his FIR alleged that the duo on May 5, approached him saying they were opening their new jewellery shop and requested him to help them by providing some gold ornaments for display in shop for the opening ceremony.
The accused also lured Jain by saying that on first day of opening, there would be good sales at reasonable price hence Jain, to whom both were known, agreed to give them the ornaments worth Rs 35 lakh.
Police said after the opening of shop, the duo used the gold ornaments for sales purpose but did not return it to the complainant .
According to sources, before approaching police, complainant requested the accused several times to return his gold ornaments or money but when both of them started avoiding him then on Saturday he approached the police for filing an FIR against them.
A senior police official from Dombivli police station said, "An FIR has been registered against duo for cheating and further probe is on".
