JAIPUR: The Jaipur police said that the domestic help who fled after he was caught stealing from a house in
Ashok Nagar on Thursday, had stolen cash from the same house earlier this year.
The police said that the family hired the accused again after he returned with proper verification.
SHO,
Vikram Singh said that the accused is a resident of Bihar and the police teams were searching for him. "The accused had fled with cash back in March. He returned again to work in the same house, but the family did not send his documents for verification despite repeated requests," he said.
On Thursday, the accused was caught rifling through an almirah in the house by the owner's wife. The accused pushed her after a scuffle and fled.
The family called in the police and teams were sent to the spot. "Our beat constable had requested the family to get his background verification. But they declined," Singh said.
The city police said that different teams have been sent to look for the accused.
The police suspect that the accused is a habitual offender with a criminal record. "We had been requesting people to get their domestic help, drivers, tenants to be verified, yet not everyone has followed the rule which makes such incidents a recurrent feature," said an official.
The police said that in March, the family did not file an FIR. The sources said that the complainant in the case is a wealthy business family settled near Ashok Nagar.
"Further investigation is underway into the case. Teams have fanned out to different areas, including Bihar to search for the accused," said an official.
