Dharwad: A
minor girl stabbed her mother who had objected to the former’s romantic relationship with a boy belonging to another caste. The incident reportedly occurred in a Mrityunjay Nagar that falls under suburban police station limits during the wee hours of Saturday. The victim,
Jeejabai, who was injured, was subsequently admitted to the
Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS),
Hubballi, where she was treated.
In her police complaint, Jeejabai has stated that she had filed a complaint against the boy under sections of the Pocso Act. Jeejabai said that the boy in question had eloped with her minor daughter, following which he had been arrested. Police said that the minor girl had since been sent to a remand home. “During the night on Friday, the boy allegedly went to Jeejabai’s home, entering through the backdoor. He, along with Jeejabai’s daughter, stabbed her, who was fast asleep when she was stabbed. Both the boy and the girl absconded after the incident,” police said.
