Real estate broker booked for stealing 82L from worksite

Coimbatore: The Peelamedu police have booked a real estate broker for robbing the manager of a real estate company of 82 lakh on Thursday.
Management of a private hospital at Cheran Maa Nagar had alerted sub-inspector S Jayashankar about B Leo Mariya Irudhayaraj of Pothiyankadu at Karumathampattipudur in Coimbatore, manager of Sigaram Promoters in Tirupur, who was admitted there with injuries.
Leo told police that he is overseeing construction of Sigaram Garden at Jeeva Nagar on Vilankurichi Road. Ravikumar, a real estate broker, used to identify sites and sold them to the realty firm. He used to visit the site manager’s office at Jeeva Nagar.
“Leo received 82 lakh from his subordinate Bhoomibalan on Wednesday night and kept the money in his house. He took it to his office around 9.30am on Thursday and kept in in the office locker. Ravikumar came to the office in a car around 10.15am with a hammer and hacksaw. He attacked Leo and forced open the locker to steal the cash. He also snatched Leo’s phone,” a police officer said.
After Ravikumar left the place, Leo came out of the office and alerted construction workers. He also contacted the firm’s owner Vijayakumar.
Based on Leo’s complaint, police registered a case against Ravikumar under Section 394 of the Indian Penal Code.
A special police team has left for Kerala to nab him.
