JAMSHEDPUR: Police on Friday arrested four accused in connection with the death of 22-year-old Manpreet Singh, who was shot dead at his house on Wednesday.
SSP M Tamil Vanan said the four accused — Rahul Singh, his brother Akshay Singh, Gaurav Kumar Gupta and Naveen Singh — have been arrested and raids are on to arrest Pooran Chaudhary. “Six police teams are conducting search at different locations to nab the fifth. He will also be arrested soon,” he said.
Earlier, Manpreet’s mother Soni Kaur reiterated her demand from the police to arrest all five accused named in the case following which she would agree for the postmortem and cremation of her son. “I want to see the five accused in police net,” she said at her residence located at Shiv Bagan area in Sidhgora.
Police station in-charge Ranjeet Kumar visited Manpreet’s house to persuade the aggrieved family for the cremation, but in vain.
Jharkhand Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (JGPC) president Shailendra Singh said a delegation of the Sikh community would meet the aggrieved family members and decide on the cremation.
The deceased was an accused in a shooting incident of 2021 and was out on bail. He had arrived home from Punjab for deposition before the Jamshedpur court in connection with the hearing of the case.
