RAJKOT: A 75-year-old widow was allegedly raped and robbed of her ornaments by an unidentified man in
Botad town. The man had approached the woman promising her to fill up the form for the widow pension scheme of the state government.
The woman who had gone to her daughter's house on Wednesday was returning home the next day when the man on a bike suddenly approached her and inquired if she had filled up the form for the widow's pension.
When she said yes, he took her number and said he would revert. She got a call from him and he offered to pick and drop her home too.
"However, instead of going to the government office, he took her to an isolated spot behind a temple on Gadhada Road and allegedly raped her. He also robbed her ornaments worth Rs 9,000 and fled the spot," Botad police station sources. The woman reached home and called her daughter to narrate the trauma.
