Ludhiana: The protest of veterinary interns of
Gadvasu, who have been demanding an increase in the stipend allowance, entered the fourth day on Friday. The protesting students put up shoe polish stalls, noodles and lemon soda corners to put across the point that an amount equivalent to the current stipend allowance could easily be earned by doing these jobs and the entire monthly allowance was earned in a day by putting up these stalls and hence the meagre amount was unjustified for the 5.5 years professional degree.
A small group of veterinary interns also met
Punjab education minister
Gurmeet Singh Hayer who assured the students of forwarding their appeals to the chief minister. AAP MLA Gurpreet
Singh Gogi made arrangements of water and cold drinks for the protesters.
Extending support to the cause, Gadvasu teachers’ association president B K Bansal and vice-president A P S Brar met the students. The veterinary interns said they would intensify their protest in the coming days if their demands are not met.
