Haryana: Four officials caught red-handed accepting bribe worth Rs 39,000

CHANDIGARH: Haryana State Vigilance Bureau caught four accused including -- an excise inspector, computer operator, lineman and mali -- red-handed while accepting bribes worth Rs 39,000 in separate incidents in Yamunanagar, Narnaul and Kaithal districts.
Spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said on Friday that inspector Virender Kumar posted at deputy excise and taxation commissioner’s office in Yamunanagar was nabbed red-handed accepting Rs 20,000 on the complaint of Narender, a liquor contractor. The arrested accused was demanding Rs 20,000 every month from the complainant.
The complainant who did not wish to pay the bribe had approached the vigilance bureau and after verifying the information, a team from Panchkula laid a trap and caught the accused accepting Rs 20,000.
In the second incident, a vigilance team from Gurugram arrested Surender Singh, a computer operator posted in the Narnaul tehsil office while accepting Rs 10,000 bribe in lieu of registration of intkal. The accused had demanded Rs 15,000 from the complainant Ravi Kumar for this work.
In another case, Paramjit Singh, a private lineman and Pawan Kumar, Mali of UHBVNL were nabbed from Kaithal district for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 9,000 from Jasbir Singh, a resident of village Malikpur in lieu of installation of a new transform in complainant’s agricultural land.
A case has been registered against them at respective police stations of the State Vigilance Bureau. Further investigation is under way.
