Bhubaneswar: The higher education department will not collect admission fee from the undergraduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) students from this year during the centralised admission process. The students will directly pay their fee to colleges, where they take admission.
Earlier, students used to deposit the money online through the higher education department’s student academic management system (SAMS) platform. It was a humongous task for the department to settle the dues or return admission fee in case one opted out of admission after depositing the fee.
According to the current process, students deposit the admission fee in a government account instead of paying directly to the college. Later, the department deposits the fees in the colleges bank account after the admission is over.
If a student changes a college and joins another college with less admission fee, the government refunds the extra money to the student’s account. The government refunds the fee if a student leaves the college after admission.
