Attacking Centre for the price rise of LPG and essential commodities in the country, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday criticised the BJP government for failing to keep its promises - be it the creation of separate states, introducing various welfare schemes or bringing packages for the North Bengal tea gardens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to bring rehabilitation packages for North Bengal during his 2021 assembly polls campaigns.

Mamata Banerjee, while addressing a North Bengal rally, said the common people are being fooled by the Centre and they are suffering due to the “daily price rise” of essential commodities.

"You have seen the LPG price hike. Where is the ‘Ujjawala’ scheme? Has it vanished? Again when the elections are around, they will promise you 'Ujjawala' scheme or purchase of tea gardens," the CM said.

The chief minister also criticised the Union government for not releasing funds for welfare schemes under MNREGA and “stopping” supply of wheat to states.

Meanwhile, BJP National President J P Nadda said Mamata Banerjee-led govt in Bengal has not given the details of the MNREGA fund expenditure for the last three years and now they are demanding funds for MNREGA.

Trinamool had held rallies across the state in protest against alleged delay by the Central fund under MNREGA .
