Coimbatore: The city police have collected traffic fine pending from 2019 from 5,629 violators in the last few days.
Assistant commissioners of Coimbatore city east and west had launched efforts to contact violators, who have pending dues between 2019 and March, 2022. Three women police constables were allotted to each assistant commissioner’s office to contact the violators and bring the cases to an end.
Since 27th of May, 5,629 people paid the fine to the tune of 2,87,200. “Vehicle owners cannot sell their vehicle if the violations are not brought to an end by paying fine. In many cases, owners may not be aware of pending cases as traffic cops could have noticed violation and penalized without the notice of violators,” a police officer said.
Police have urged vehicle owners to check the
mParivahan app to see if they have any pending dues. The fine can be paid online, the officer added.
