National Investigation Agency on Thursday searched eight locations in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as part of its investigation into 'funds and propaganda for terror outfit Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Searches were conducted at residences and other locations of five persons with alleged links to ISIS in Mayiladuthurai, Chennai and Karaikal, officials said. NIA had taken over probe of the case registered by TN Police against Sadiq Batcha, Mohammed Ashiq, Jagabar Ali and Rahmath of Tamil Nadu and Mohammed Irfhan from Puducherry's Karaikal, alleging that they were 'associated with ISIS to float inspired outfits' in India.
Tamil Nadu Police registered the case in February and arrested all five accused for 'various offences' under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. Later, it invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
