After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in India wrote to Interpol regarding the absconding gangster, the international agency issued a Red Corner Notice against Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who is a prime accused in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case.
Goldy Brar is the prime accused in the murder of Congress leader and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29 by unidentified men. Punjab police had ruled his death as the result of an inter-gang rivalry.
Soon after the CBI wrote to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) requesting the issuance of the RCN, the international agency published the notice on its official website, saying that gangster Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar is currently wanted in India.
A senior CBI official said that after the issuance of RCN, the process to enable his extradition to India will begin. Goldy Brar has been associated with Lawrence Bishnoi, who has been termed as the mastermind behind the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala.
The CBI official said, "The RCN has been issued. The CBI liaison officer will coordinate with Interpol and a proposal will be moved through the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for extradition.”
Brar, a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib, had gone to Canada on a student visa in 2017 and he is an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He is operating from Canada.
Though Brar recently made headlines and was on the radar of the police after he assumed responsibility for the murder of the Punjabi singer, the Punjab police said that the request for the RCN was put in before the killing of Moose Wala, and is in relation to other criminal cases.
In the Red Corner Notice, the Interpol has written that Goldy Brar is wanted in India on the charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, supply of illegal firearms, and attempt to murder. It is expected that Goldy Brar will be located and extradited from Canada, and will be tried before a court soon.
