'ZDNet Recommends': What exactly does it mean?

ZDNet's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.

When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNet nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.

ZDNet's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. Apple has earned dual reputations as a company known for producing status symbol products and as a retailer that rarely provides much in the way of discounts to the average consumer. That said, plenty of retailers, and even Apple itself, do have exceptional promotions going on right now. Whether you're shopping for an iPhone, an iPad, a MacBook, an Apple Watch, AirPods, or accessories, we have a deal you'll definitely want to know about.

Whether you're a power user who dabbles in graphics-intensive apps or a casual social media browser, the non-Pro iPhone 13 model is the one to buy. While its starting price of $829 is still a lump sum to cover, carriers like T-Mobile frequently offer deals to new and existing customers that can net you a free iPhone if you play your cards right. Currently, the "un-carrier" will reward you with up to $800 off an iPhone 13 when you add a line and trade in an eligible device. This promotion applies to any rate plan (including Magenta Max), and the $800 credit will be applied via 24 monthly bill credits.

  • Current Price: $197
  • Original Price: $249

Arguably the best sounding wireless earbuds on the market, the Apple AirPods Pro has been discounted at major retailers. The earbuds are sleek, comfortable to wear, and boast an impressive sound quality that only gets better when paired with an Apple device. You also can take advantage of the AirPods' active noise cancellation technology, which tunes out your surroundings for an immersive audio experience.

The lowest price we've seen is $189, but this is still a really good deal for Apple enthusiasts.

AirPods 2nd Generation (Save $41)

  • Current Price: $118
  • Original Price: $159

If you favor the classic, long-stem design of the Apple AirPods, the 2nd generation AirPods deliver excellent music playback, support Hey Siri commands, and connect seamlessly to your iPhone, iPad, or MacBook. What you lose -- versus the AirPods Pro -- is the noise cancellation and wireless charging. For the standard AirPods, you'll need a lightning cable to top it up.

Reviewer Jason Cipriani felt the battery life lived up to its five-hour battery life, making it great for listening and working. The lowest price we've seen is $109. We do not expect these to drop back down to $109 any time soon.

With 64GB of storage space, the 10.9-inch screen is perfect for streaming the latest shows or sketching out new designs.

Reviewer Jason Cipriani felt the tablet expanded upon the 4th generation's already great features and made it a nearly perfect tablet for daily use.
