Neve Campbell will not be reprising her role in Scream 6.
The actor played the character Sidney Prescott in the long-running horror franchise.
In a statement to Variety, the 48-year-old said that the offer she was presented did not "equate to the value I have brought to the franchise."
"As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise."
Campbell added that it was a difficult decision to move on and thanked all the fans.
"To all my Scream fans, I love you. You've always been so incredibly supportive to me. I'm forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years."
The film series was successfully rebooted with the fifth Scream film, released earlier this year. The sixth instalment is scheduled for release in March 2023.
According to Deadline Hayden Panettiere will reprise her role as Kirby Reed from Scream 4. Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding will reprise their roles. In the upcoming film, the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro to start a new chapter.
