Ranchi: SSP SK Jha on Monday suspended sub-inspector-cum-in-charge of
Pandra police outpost, Chintu Kumar, on charges of laxity in duty and allegedly beating a tribal youth in custody and releasing him after taking a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh.
The
Pandra OC was accused of beating up the tribal youth who had visited the police station with a complaint related to a land dispute. Local villagers had gheraoed the PS and lodged a complaint with former minister Bandhu Tirkey and Ranchi SSP. Chintu has been transferred to the police lines. SI
Chandrashekhar Kumar, who was posted at Kotwali police station (PS), has been appointed as the new OC of
Pandra PS. Jha couldn’t be contacted.
OC of Burmu PS, Manab Mayank, has also been asked to report to the police lines on charges of laxity and is replaced by SI Kamlesh Rai. He was shifted as illegal trade of coal was taking place in his jurisdiction despite an order from the government calling for strict control over such activities.
Ranchi SSP said that there were allegations against him.

Vinita Kumari, who was at Sadar PS, has been appointed OC of Mahila PS in Bundu, which was vacant so far. SI Chandarashekehar Yadav, who was attached to the police lines, has been transferred to Kotwali PS in place of Chandrashekhar Kumar.
