Illegal parking lots still up and running in many areas

Lucknow: Even as the senior government officials had issued stern orders to the police and district administration against any illegal parking, the contractors are still running these set-ups in the city.
In a recent drive in Sarojini Nagar, a revenue inspector of Zone 8 of Nagar Nigam, Saurabh Tripathi lodged a case against a contractor and his men for running illegal parking in Transport Nagar parking slots and grabbing these slots.
The action came on a complaint of the residents who informed the local police and Nagar Nigam officials about the possession of the contractor and his men at parking slots in the area and illegal realization of money from the people.
In his complaint, Tripathi said a team carrying out the removal of encroachment/illegal possession of the parking slots in the area found contractor Ravindra and his men were running the parking slots despite a ban order.
He named Ravindra and his aides as Sooraj Rawat, Anand Sahi, Ajay Jyoti, all of Sarojini Nagar and unnamed miscreants who realized fees from the people in the area.
Police registered a case for extortion under Public property damage prevention act 1984.
LMC had sent the letter to police requesting action against the miscreants on May 24 and sent a reminder on May 26.
“No action has been taken yet and so it is requested that kindly initiate an action against the miscreant as per the policy of UP government on priority level,” Tripathi requested in the FIR.
