Ludhiana: A woman and her son allegedly stabbed her husband to death as he was an alcoholic and used to fight with them often. The family stayed in Sahnewal.
Satnam Kaur (48) and son
Karan (18) had admitted her husband
Kulwinder Singh (49) to a hospital with injuries but he died. The police initially proceeded with Section 174 of CrPC, but the autopsy revealed that the man had at least 10 injury marks on his back. Police have arrested Satnam and Karan and booked them under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.
Inspector
Pawan Kumar, SHO, Sahnewal police station, said after Kulwinder, a labourer, was injured in the knife attack, the mother-son duo panicked and rushed him to a private hospital. They misled the police saying that Kulwinder had been sick. Kulwinder died on Monday. Police took the body into custody to get an autopsy done and proceeded with Section 174 of CrPC. However, during the autopsy, the doctors found at least 10 injury marks on the back of the body, confirming murder.
“Thereafter the police questioned the accused who confessed about their crime. The accused stated that Kulwinder was drunkard and often created nuisance. The mother and son used to deter him from drinking which was the prime reason for their frequent spats. On Sunday too, Kulwinder asked for money from his wife to get liquor, however she did not give him money. They indulged in a spat and Satnam and his son Karan stabbed Kulwinder with a kitchen knife,” the inspector added.
