Ahmedabad: A concerned municipal corporation has upped its Covid surveillance activities since Monday after a steep rise in active Covid cases in the city. Right now there are approximately more than 206 active Covid cases in the city of which the maximum concentration is around areas like Jodhpur, Thaltej, Bodakdev,
Navrangpura and
Paldi which account for nearly 73% of the total active cases.
A concerned municipal corporation has begun a ward wise awareness drive in these areas. More than 78% of the active cases are fully vaccinated and a majority of cases are in the 19 to 40 age group.
A senior member of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) health committee told TOI that surveillance in areas like
Gota, Chandlodiya, Sola, Ghatlodiya and
Ranip has begun, “From past trends we have come to know that if the cases rise areas like Gota, Ghatlodiya and other nearby areas then there are chances that the Covid cases will spread rapidly in the city. Our medical teams are ensuring that proper reporting of these cases takes place,” says a senior
AMC health committee member.
The member also adds that though over the past nine days cases hovered between 20 and 25 cases per day, but over the last two days , cases crossed the 40 cases per day mark, which was a matter of concern for the health authorities. The state health department has asked the civic body to daily update on the Covid situation in the city. Pathological laboratories have been reminded of constant update on the Covid tests that take place in their laboratories and alert the AMC of any unusual trend.
