SWR launches drive to stress safety at level crossing

Hubballi: As part of the International Level Crossing Awareness Day on June 9, Hubballi Division of South Western Railway has launched a week-long awareness campaign.
As part of the drive, senior divisional safety officer J S Rudraswami and his team interacted with the road users at several level crossing gates, schools and buses etc in and around Hubballi. Team advised people to follow safety precautions at level crossing gates. The public were advised against trying to cross the tracks at level crossings when the gates are closed. They were told to wait patiently when the gates are closed, and to proceed only after the gate is opened for road traffic.
Trespassing the tracks at level crossings when the gates are closed endangers lives. It is also a punishable offence under Indian Railways Act 1989. People were also advised against using earphones while passing through LCs. Informative pamphlets were also distributed on the occasion. tnn
