Short-circuit in ceiling lights triggers minor fire at RMLIMS

Lucknow: A fire broke out on the fourth floor of the academic block of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) on Monday morning.
No loss to life or property was reported in the incident which took place due to short-circuit. This is the second consecutive fire incident in two days. On Sunday night, a fire incident was reported in Covid ward in emergency wing.
Around 11.45am on Monday, short-circuit in ceiling lights triggered a fire which affected the false ceiling.
Chief medical superintendent of RMLIMS Dr Rajan Bhatnagar claimed, “It was not a fire. There was only smoke due to short-circuit which was also controlled within 10 minutes. No patient, student, staff or equipment was affected.”
“The Sunday’s fire was also due to short-circuit but it was in a different building and on a different feeder. There is no connection between the two incidents,” he said. The institute issued a press statement which said, “The reason for continuous incidents of fire is short-circuit due to extreme heat.”
