Rajkot: Business rivalry between groups of two communities in stone mining reached a flashpoint in Sudamda village of Surendranagar after four persons were attacked and one of them suffered bullet injury in the head.
The latest trigger for the assault on
Rabari community members was a fight over using the common road that led to the mining and stone crushing site, said police.
A group of around 8-10 people from Kathi Darbar community, armed with sticks, pipes and pistols, reached the mining site and started thrashing four people.
One of them opened three rounds from a pistol and a bullet hit Bhoja Rabari near the head. He was rushed to Ahmedabad where his condition is said to be critical.
Three others were hospitalized in Surendranagar.

Devayat Khavad has been going on for many years,” said
MD Chaudhary, police inspector, Surendranagar local crime branch.
One company of
State Reserve Police (SRP) has been deployed in the village to avert any escalation of tension.
