Hubballi:
BJP candidate for the West Teachers’ Constituency Basavaraj
Horatti expressed confidence of getting 40% more votes than the previous election.
Speaking to the reporters here on Sunday, Horatti said he was elected for seven consecutive terms. “This time I am contesting as a BJP candidate. Every time I used to fight with a BJP candidate and now, I am myself the BJP candidate. My victory will be very simple and win with a large margin,” he said.
The West Teachers constituency covers four districts - Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and
Uttara Kannada. As of January 1, 2022, there were 17,244 voters in the constituency consisting of 10,601 men and 6,643 women. Dharwad has the highest voters at 5,889, Haveri has 4,630 voters, Uttar Kannada 3,499 and Gadag has 3,226 voters.
Reacting to HD
Kumaraswamy’s comment against him, Horatti said the former CM himself has done much work in the field of education during his tenure as chief minister. “If I have not done anything for the welfare of teachers, then how did I continuously get elected seven times?” he said.
“I have worked hard to provide many facilities to teachers such as recruitment, transfer and other facilities. If whatever I have done is found to be untrue, then file a case against me,” he said.
