VADODARA: Even as Vadodara district has registered lowest pass percentage in HSC general stream in
Gujarat,
M S University's largest faculty in terms of student strength - the Faculty of Commerce - will have to accommodate nearly 9,000 students in
BCom first year.
Of the 13,355 students who had appeared in HSC general stream exams, 10,150 students have cleared their exams in Vadodara district.
Even after considering that some of these students will opt for studies in BCom (honours), BBA, law, social work and home science, the commerce faculty is expected to see registration of 9,000-plus students.
Sources said that last year due to mass promotion after Covid-19 pandemic, 16,292 students had cleared their HSC general stream exams in Vadodara district. The faculty had witnessed a major rush of applicants and it had to eventually admit over 9,000 students in the first year.
Faculty officials said that online registration for admission in first year BCom had already started. "After receiving their marksheets, students can upload their documents on the online portal. After scrutiny of applications, we will try to wind up the admission process at the earliest," said a faculty official, adding that they are expecting to start the new academic session for students of first year by mid-July.
