HD Kumaraswamy: Was frustrated, visited US allowing my government to fall

BELAGAVI : Revealing how the fall of the JD(S)-Congress coalition government led by him was engineered, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said he was so frustrated that he allowed it to crumble.
Blaming Siddaramaiah, Kumaraswamy alleged the Congress leader betrayed his own party and joined hands with BJP to pull down the coalition government.
“It was so frustrating to witness the conspiracy being hatched to topple my government. My primary objective was to implement the farm loan waiver scheme, which I achieved with great difficulty. As I had lost interest in saving the government, I went to the US just to allow its fall,” said Kumaraswamy.
He said BJP functionaries rehearsed for months to pull down the government as they relentlessly indulged in poaching MLAs from Congress and JD(S) through what is called Operation Lotus and they finally succeeded in 2019 when 17 MLA resigned. “We had made the public aware about BJP’s attempts to lure JD(S) and Congress MLAs. BJP functionaries are now stirring up sentiments of Hindutva. . . ,” said Kumaraswamy.
