Award-winning actor Connie Chiume celebrated her 70th birthday in a lavish party at 012 Lifestyle Brooklyn in Pretoria.
The celebration was attended by industry colleagues and some of her co-stars on Mzansi Magic's award-winning telenovela Gomora. This included Thembi Seete (who plays Gladys Dlamini), her on-screen daughter Siyasanga Papu (who plays Pretty Molefe), and former Gomora actor Israel Matseke-Zulu (who played Don Buthelezi), among others.
Another industry heavyweight who attended was veteran actor Thembi Nyandeni.
Taking to social media, Chiume said, "This is the day that the Lord has made," adding that she was thankful to everyone who made her birthday celebration possible and for the gifts and birthday wishes she received.
In another post, she credited her daughter, Thando, for organising a "beautiful event" and making her feel like a queen.
Thando praised her mother for being a "wonderful soul."
"Look at how everyone respects and adores you! I am so proud to be your daughter! I am proud of you and where you are going and what you have become," she wrote on social media.
Chiume's Gomora co-star Sannah Mchunu (who plays Zodwa Buthelezi) said the birthday celebration was "lit," adding that the actor looked gorgeous.
