Back from Goa meet, 3 taekwondo champions receive rousing reception

SILCHAR: The three winners of the recently held India Cup Open Taekwondo Championship from Assam's Dima Hasao district were accorded a warm reception on their arrival in their hometown, Haflong, on Sunday.
Benla Kemprai, Nathan M Darnei and Pollabi Handique participated in the championship, which was held in Goa from May 31 to June 2.
Benla Kemprai won two gold and one bronze, Darnei bagged one gold and Handique one gold and one silver in the championship. All three were trained by coach Anuj Kumar Hagjer and manager Abijit Maibangsa, who also won accolades for their success.
District sports officer Zagir Khan, along with the physical instructor of the sports and youth welfare department, Haflong, students' organisations and the parents of the winners felicitated and congratulated them for bringing laurels to the hill district of Dima Hasao.
Debolal Gorlosa, CEM of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, encouraged the winners to continue their hard work and wished them luck for a bright future.
