CHANDIGARH: An 85-year-old man crossing the road with his grandson was killed after an unknown vehicle hit him in a hit-and-run on the road dividing sectors 44 and 45 on Saturday night.
Sector 45 resident Paras Katiyal said he and his grandfather Kasturi Lal were going to Sector 44 market. "He was walking behind me. As I crossed the road, I heard a loud sound. When I looked back, I found my grandfather lying in a pool of blood. Passersby told me an unknown hit him and sped away," Lal was taken to Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police registered a case and are scrutinising CCTV footage to secure clues about the driver.
On March 15, a 45-year-old man riding on a scooter was killed on the road dividing sectors 9 and 17.
