Hubballi: The transport department on a trial basis has restarted a bus service from
Hubballi’s central bus terminus to the airport after a widespread public demand.
To check feasibility and other aspects, the department has started a 37-seater
minibus service. The bus takes 25-30 minutes to reach the airport, transport officials said.
The transport department decided to restart the service that was abandoned in 2018 after it got a poor response.

Vishwagnya, the divisional controller of NWKRTC’s Hubballi division, said the service resumed on Friday. “This time, we are expecting a good response as the authorities of the airport have assured to help create awareness among people about the bus service at the airport,” he said.
"The airport authorities have said they will make announcements about bus service to the city. They have provided an adequate and suitable place for parking the bus from where people can see it while coming out of the airport,” he said.
The bus fare from the CBT to Hubballi airport is Rs 25. From the old bus terminal to the airport it is Rs 20 and from the New Bus terminal on Gokul Road to the airport it is Rs 15, he said.
“After looking at the response, the decision to increase buses will be taken,” the official said.
Peter K, a businessman, said providing connectivity between the airport and the city was a good idea. “The transport department should run their bus based on the arrival and departure of flights so that people can use it according to their convenience,” he said.
Vishwagnya said the bus to the airport will run from 6 am to 9.30 pm.
