Kiran Bedi plants sapling at Dibrugarh University

DIBRUGARH: Kiran Bedi, the former lieutenant governor of Puducherry and the first woman IPS officer, on Sunday planting a sapling of the Indian Rose Chestnut (locally known as Nahor) on the Dibrugarh University campus to mark the World Environment Day.
The theme of this year's celebration is "Only One Earth" with a focus on "living sustainably in harmony with Nature".
Stressing on the need for conserving and protecting the environment, Bedi said nature gives rich dividends when people come forward to safeguard it.
Jiten Hazarika, the registrar of Dibrugarh University, said saplings were planted in every college affiliated to the varsity in the nine districts of the state.
