RANCHI: Around 52 members of the state unit of
Shiv Sena protested at Albert Ekka Chowk on Sunday against the attack and killings of
Kashmiri Pandits.
They raised slogans against Pakistan and its activities supporting terrorism. The protesters also questioned the J&K Union territory administration and slammed other political parties and their leaders for not condoling the killing of innocent people.
Talking to TOI, the Mahanagar head of Shiv Sena, Ronit Kumar, said, "We had hoped for the safety of Kashmiri Pandits after Article 370 was abolished, but it seems that the move hasn't made any difference. Kashmiri Pandits are targeted even when Congress was ruling the
Valley in the 90s. Even after the
BJP has converted it into a Union territory, there isn't much difference."
Leaders of the state Shiv Sena also questioned the "ominous silence" of political parties as well as their leaders over the killings.
"Not only those who called themselves secular, but people who have been projecting themselves as the saviour of Hindus, too, have gone silent," he claimed.
State vice-president of Shiv Sena, Sandeep Mukherjee, said, "No political party, including BJP nor its ideological head
RSS, has come out and said a word on the recent killings. I think people of this country should ask them about their big claims after Article 370 was done away with."
Notably, a bank manager and a teacher were killed last month, reportedly triggering an exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits, who have started returning to the Valley since the scrapping of Article 370 by the Centre.
