Odisha: Trainee pilot injured as aircraft crashes while landing
The front portion of the plane got seriously damaged and slipped into a drain.
ANGUL: A trainee pilot, Karan Mallik of Maharashtra, sustained minor injuries after a training aircraft belonging to the Government Aviation Training Institute (GATI) crash-landed at Birasal airstrip, 130 km from Bhubaneswar, on Monday afternoon.

Sources said the plane was on training exercise and was landing on the airstrip at about 2.30pm. However, it crash-landed as the trainee lost control around 15 ft above the ground.
The front portion of the plane got seriously damaged and slipped into a drain.
Mallik sustained minor injuries on his face and is out of danger.
It may be recalled that two pilots, female trainee pilot Aanish Fatima and the trainer Sanjay Kumar Jha, were killed as a trainer aircraft crash landed at about on June 8, 2020. The Birasal institute was established in 2019 and has capacity to train 90 trainees in a batch.
