Bihar: ‘One-year internship for national institute of pharmaceutical education and research students’

PATNA: Union health and family welfare minister Mansukh Mandviya on Saturday said students of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) will compulsorily undertake a one-year internship in the respective industry to ensure understanding of industry practices and the required skills.
“I will soon make formal announcement regarding the internship for NIPER students. NIPER will make collaborations with the industries in this regard. It will ensure industry-academia linkage and on-site industry and practical exposure to students to help them in their job in future,” Mandviya said.
Speaking as the chief guest at an official programme organised at NIPER, Hajipur, Mandviya said: “NIPER here can take up research work on eradication of kala-azar as it is a disease in Bihar.” Inaugurating a LCMSMS (liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry) laboratory at NIPER, he said, “There are more than 3,000 pharmaceutical companies and above 10,000 pharma manufacturing units in the country. This sector needs further development as the country has a huge domestic demand of medicines,” Mandviya said.
The minister is slated to inaugurate the new sub-divisional hospital and national food laboratory buildings at Raxaul on Sunday.
