Ludhiana: As people have started planing travel abroad and within India, vaccination camps are in demand by parents and students . Covid vaccination between 12-14 age groups has begun from March 16. In the district there are appropriately 1-1.09 lakh children in this age group, who are eligible for vaccination,and 68,717 (62.99%) of them have been administered vaccines as of now and 22.18% of them have got second dose.
Children are being administered Corbevax, manufactured by Biological E Limited, Hyderabad. About 72.61% of those in the 15-17 age group have received the first vaccine so far. Their inoculation with
Covaxin had started on January 3. As per the
health department officials, there are about 1.78 lakh teenagers in the 15-17 age group, 1,29,930 (72.61%) have received the first shot of the vaccine and 66,037 the second.
Camps are being organised in collaboration with the district health department, under which a three-member team of the mobile medical unit from civil surgeon’s office and a three-member team from dispensaries under the supervision of doctors carry out the vaccination drive. DAV School, BRS Nagar, organized almost a sixth vaccination camp on the campus for the students in the age group of 12-14 years and booster dose for adults.
Principal J.K. Sidhu said, “ Students of 12-14 age group were given Corbevax. Apart from the students, the parents also became the beneficiaries of this camp. In all 560 (students and parents) people benefited from the camp.”
An official from the health department said as people had plans to travel abroad and within India, vaccination camps are in demand by parents and students.
At Sacred Heart Convent School, Sector 39, organized third vaccination camp where nearly 300 got inoculated during the camp out of which maximum doses about 160 were administered to the eligible children for Corbevax.
Principal Crispin Maria said, “School camps provided one platform to the parents and the students where the children got themselves vaccinated. Consent form was sent to the students by the school. Students according to their age got doses of Corbevax, Covexin and
Covishield. It is the best protection given today in this camp to the children in the age group of 12-15, 15-17 and to those who have attained the age of 18.”
