Actors Katrina, Kartik test positive
BMC officials confirmed on Sunday that actor Katrina Kaif had tested Covid-19 positive on June 1 while actor Kartik Aaryan tested positive for Coronavirus on June 4. “There was a party organised under the jurisdiction of K-West Ward on May 25. Many attended that party but it would be wrong to say that those who attended have tested positive. S o far there is no correlation between the actors testing positive for Covid-19 and the party held on May 25. We have not issued any new directives to studios. So far only Katrina Kaif (June 1) and Kartik Aaryan (June 4) have tested positive in the K-West Ward among celebrities,” said Prithviraj Chavan, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, K-West Ward.

Revenue dept, police top state’s graft chart
The revenue department has once again topped the state’s corruption chart. Maharashtra Police are second on the list—comprising 44 government departments—prepared by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). The ACB in the last six months has logged 314 offences, of which 72 are against revenue department officials (three against class one officers, 6 class two and 62 class three). Against the police department, the ACB has registered 67 offences, of which four are against class one officers, 11 class two and 64 class three.
9 bizmen get 6 months jail for playing rummy
In a rare conviction under the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, nine businessmen from the city who were booked for playing rummy for money in a room at the Taj President in 2011, have been convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment. Police had recovered Rs 3. 25 lakh from the accused in the room. Metropolitan magistrate AV Kulkarni refused to let the accused off on a bond of good behaviour and instead sentenced them.
Four arrested for highway robbery
Four men have been arrested for carjacking a businessman on the Western Express Highway near Dahisar at 12. 45am on May 25. They overtook his car, forced him to stop, manhandled him and made off with his iPhone and 20gm gold chain.
2 sons kill mother over ‘black magic’
Wadala police arrested a BEST driver and his minor brother for allegedly stabbing their 42-year-old mother to death as they believed she had used black magic to block the former’s marriage. The bus driver’s girlfriend was also arrested.
Salman gets note with death threat
An anonymous note threatening actor Salman Khan and his father, writer Salim Khan, with a Sidhu Moose Wala-like attack was found at the Bandra Bandstand promenade on Sunday. Cops registered a case against unknown persons.
With the discharge of 614 patients after Covid-19 treatment, the state's count of recoveries mounted to 77,38,564.
A total of 25,994 samples were tested on Sunday, taking the cumulative number of tests conducted so far in Maharashtra to 8,10,61,270.
The state has 6,767 active cases now, the department said in a statement.
Sunday is the fourth consecutive day when the state reported more than 1,000 cases.
The state had recorded 1,357 new coronavirus infections and one pandemic-related death the day before.
Maharashtra on Sunday reported 1,494 fresh Covid-19 cases, including 961 in Mumbai, and one fatality due to the infection, taking the tally of infections to 78,93,197 and the toll to 1,47,866, the state health department said.
