
India’s Covid-19 cases hit a three-month high last week following spikes in Kerala and Maharashtra, sparking concerns of another wave just as the country’s been returning to some level of normalcy.
About a fifth of the above-12-year-old population is yet to be fully vaccinated while the delivery of boosters is proceeding slowly.
The silver lining is that infections appear to be mild, so hospitalisation and fatalities are low. Globally, cases are trending down but the US continues to report a high level of fresh infections. The new hotspots overseas are North Korea and Taiwan.
