Ranchi: The Ranchi district hospital, which has been topping the charts nationally in Ayushman Bharat rankings, made a breakthrough towards self-dependency in
laparoscopic and laser surgeries for stomach related and anal surgeries. With this, the Ranchi district hospital became the first district hospital in the state to introduce laparoscopic surgeries with its own resources.
Ranchi civil surgeon Dr
Vinod said, “We have got three gas anaesthesia work stations, a laparoscopy machine, a laser machine along with support equipment that cost us over Rs 50 lakh. We received the fund by treating beneficiaries under the national health insurance scheme.”
General surgeon Dr Ajit Kumar said, “The management helped us in our efforts to start the surgeries at our hospital. An ovarian cystectomy and laparoscopic cholecystectomy were conducted on a patient and
para ovarian cyst removal on another patient through laparoscopy on Saturday. Now, we can perform any stomach-related surgery free of cost.” A private hospital charges around Rs 1.20 lakh for a para ovarian cyst removal, he added.
Dr Kumar said the hospital will receive around Rs 65,000 from the government for the ovarian cystectomy and Laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedure done on the first patient. The second patient wasn’t a beneficiary under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and so, we would not receive any amount from the government.
The hospital would also perform laser surgeries. Doctors performed
heemraad fissures, and sinus on two patients on Thursday.
Dr Vinod added, “This is a landmark moment for us. We became the first district hospital in the state to provide this service to the poor.”
A senior doctor said they next want the management to procure harmonic and endoscopy machines for better diagnosis of patients.
