Gurgaon: A 23-year-old youth allegedly stabbed his live-in partner to death in
Bilaspur on Saturday morning over suspicion of her having an affair with someone else. He was arrested after he called up the control room to inform police about what he had done.
The accused,
Rahul alias
Sonu is from
Rewari. “We received a phone call from the accused, who confessed his crime. He didn’t escape and was arrested from the spot,” a police officer said.
Rahul and 21-year-old
Bharti, originally from Palwal, had been in a live-in relationship for the past three years. Just two days ago, they returned to their one-room rented accommodation in Bilaspur’s Rathiwas village from their natives places two days ago, police said.
“Rahul worked as a painter for a living. Both were living together with the consent of their parents. Prima facie, it appeared that the man was not mentally well,” the officer said.
An FIR has been lodged at the Bilaspur police station against the accused under section 302 (murder) and under the Arms Act. “We have recovered the knife used in the crime from the spot. A probe is on,” he added.
