Ranchi: JD(U)’s
Jharkhand president Khiru
Mahto, who was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar on Friday, said on Saturday that he would reconstitute committees of the party in Jharkhand to turn the Bihar-based party into a political force in the state ahead of the 2024 assembly polls.
Mahto thanked Bihar CM
Nitish Kumar for sending a nondescript party worker like him to the Upper House. “Our national president has done his part by sending me to the Rajya Sabha and now, it is our duty to ensure that the graph of the party rises in the state. We would work towards the expansion of our organisation. The districts committees will start preparing for coming elections,” he said.
On being asked about the JD(U)’s expansion plan in Jharkhand, Mahto said they would reach out to all those who have been part of the Samta party as well as the JD(U) in the past from Jharkhand. “We will not leave a single party worker behind. We are planning a public contact programme during which those who have been associated with our party from the state since 1977 will be contacted and brought into party fold. This will provide us with a much-needed boost and we will become a robust organisation in the state,” Mahto said.
Earlier in the day, Mahto arrived at Birsa Munda International Airport from Patna around 1pm. He then headed to Hinoo area and paid his homage at the statue of former Bihar chief minister Karpuri Thakur.
Meanwhile, state party workers confirmed that the Jharkhand in-charge of JD (U) and rural development minister of Bihar,
Shravan Kumar, will visit the state after June 10.
