Dharwad: The forest department has planned slew of programmes under Hasiru Karnataka Scheme to mark
World Environment Day from Sunday.

Sonal Vrusti said on Saturday that various units of the department in
Dharwad district will take up sowing of seeds and plantation of saplings from June 5 to 12. Seed balls will be distributed during the week. On Sunday, a formal function will be held at Karnatak University’s
senate hall to celebrate World Environment Day.
NCC,
NSS, Scouts and Guides of schools and colleges in the district will be involved in the implementation of the scheme. The sowing of seeds will be taken up on forest land, waste land, the borders of agriculture fields and other places. The DCF has appealed to citizens’ organisations to participate in the green drive.
