JAIPUR: Eight persons had a close shave after a major fire broke out on the seventh floor of a building in
Vidhyadhar Nagar on Saturday afternoon. A team of firefighters used hydraulic ladders to evacuate the people stuck in the fire from the building. Fire officer,
Jagdish Fulwari told TOI that the fire department pressed as many as eight fire tenders to douse the flames.
The police, meanwhile, suspect that some kind of an electrical malfunction had triggered the fire, which snowballed into a major blaze.
Fulwari said that at least three floors of the building are used for commercial purposes like shops etc, whereas the above floors have residential apartments.
The fire stirred panic in the Vidhyadhar Nagar area as smoke curled up from the windowpanes of the building. Residents called up the fire control room and the city police about the incident.
