9-yr-old Jaipur girl found dead with throat slit

JAIPUR: Hours after she was reported missing, a nine-year-old girl was found dead with her throat slit inside an abandoned makeshift room near her house under Amber police station area here on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the girl did not have clothes on her body. In the FIR, the girl's father claimed that she was raped. DCP (North) Paris Deshmukh said the autopsy report will reveal the facts. A person has been detained in this connection, Deshmukh said.
Additional DCP (North) Suman Choudhary said the girl's family informed the control room that their daughter had gone missing in the afternoon.
Soon after, the mother found the kid's body inside one of the abandoned rooms a few metres from their house.
Locals said the room was used as a cowshed. “The girl’s mother was desperately searching for her. She went into anarrow alley where there are two abandoned rooms. When she walked into one of them, she found her daughter’s body there,” an official said. Senior police officials and FSL teams reached the crime scene and examined it. Police said the accused possibly used asharp weapon to slit the girl’s throat.
Investigators are searching for the murder weapon. Police and locals said the family had adopted the girl sometime in 2016 when she was about three years old. Since then, she has been living with the family in their rented room. “The family is a native of a nearby district of Jaipur,” said an official, adding that the girl’s father used to make coffee and tea during weddings and other functions.
A senior police officer, who is part of the investigation team, informed TOI that there is a strong probability of the suspect being someone from the same or nearby locality. “There are only a few houses in that area and the crime spot is barely a few metres from a row of houses at the end of an alley. It seems unlikely that a stranger would easily know of such a place unless he has been there before,” the official said.
Sources said the girl’s father was present inside his house and was drinking liquor with another youth. He sent her daughter to fetch some cold water and she returned with it. Soon after that, she went missing before her body was discovered. “We have examined the crime scene. We have also spoken to locals, including owners of the house where the family lived as a tenant,” said the official.
Police said the owner’s house is located right across the road from the family’s room. Forensic experts earmarked a trail of blood spots and circled them with a red marker to preserve the samples for collection. Jaipur police said it could not be immediately ascertained if the blood spots near the crime scene is of the accused or the girl.
