Gurgaon: Police on Friday claimed to have thwarted a plan to kidnap a property dealer’s son with the arr-est of three men in connection with the snatching of two cars.
The accused have been identified as 27-year-old
Vinay, a computer science graduate, 22-year-old
Amit, a third-year BSc student, and 20-year-old
Tushar. Cops said the three had planned to demand a ransom of Rs 1 crore from the property dealer for the release of his son.
As per the plan, the three would kidnap the boy in one of the stolen cars and use the second vehicle for collecting the ransom amount. The accused were out to kidnap the boy on Thursday when the crime branch, on a tip-off, made the arrests.
In fact, the three allegedly stole two cars — a Santro and a Celerio — from their drivers at gunpoint in Gurgaon on May 16 and May 26, respectively. Apart from the two cars, a pistol and three bullets, and soft drinks laced with sedatives were found in their possession.

Amit Kumar, in-charge of Farukhnagar crime unit, nabbed them. During interrogation, they revealed that they had planned to kidnap the minor for ransom.”
The accused also told cops that Vinay was the mastermind and that they had also conducted a recce of the property dealer’s house to kidnap his son.
“To execute the crime, they needed vehicles and so they had snatched the cars. One of the snatched vehicles was to be used to kidnap the child and keep him captive and the other vehicle was to be used to collect the ransom of Rs 1 crore,” the ACP (crime) said.
