BATHINDA: Deceased Punjabi singer
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias
Sidhu Moosewala's father
Balkaur Singh has vehemently declined to contest the upcoming election from
Sangrur parliamentary constituency. He has asked people not to believe in numerous posts in social media about political leaders stressing the need to make him consensus candidate.
Ruling out any such possibility, Balkaur Singh said that even the heat of the cremation of his son has not cooled down that people are asking him to contest. He also asked people to assemble at Mansa on June 8 at the Bhog ceremony of Sidhu Moosewala when he will hold elaborate talks with them.
Earlier Balkaur Singh with his wife Charan Kaur met union home minister
Amit Shah at Chandigarh Airport and reiterated the demand for probing the killing of his son from some Central agency, preferably NIA. In 12 minutes meeting with the home minister, the emotional Balkaur Singh told him about the killing and threats from gangsters to his son for getting fame.
Earlier, he had written to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann to get the investigations conducted from a sitting judge of high court with assistance from NIA or CBi.
After the chief justice declined to get the matter investigated, the demanded to get it probed from Central agency has further gained ground.
Earlier, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Congress legislature party leader Partap Singh Bajwa, Delhi leader Paramjit Singh Sarna, agri economist Sardara Singh Johl had stressed the need to make him consensus candidate.
Sidhu Moosewala was gunned down by gangsters at village Jawaharke in district Mansa on the evening of May 29 when he along with two friends was going to meet his ailing aunt at a nearby village in his Mahindra Thar.
The attackers in a number of cars including Bolero, Scorpio, Toyota Corolla and Maruti Alto had surrounded him and fired indiscriminately.
