Police arrest 5 in connection with shooting

Haveri: Police in the North Karnataka district have arrested five people in connection with a shoot-out that was reported in Shiggaon in April. One of those arrested, Manjunath Patil, had allegedly shot at 24-year-old Vasanthkumar Shivapur, resulting in the latter sustaining severe injuries. Manjunath had shot Vasanthkumar near Rajashri Film Theatre in Shiggaon. While Ismail who helped Manjunath escape after the crime, has also been arrested, Haveri police have managed to apprehend three others — Mohammad Arif Alam, Mohammad Saheed Chand, and Mohammad Shamshad Alam — who allegedly supplied Manjunath the weapon.
