College student falls to death

Coimbatore: A 21-year-old college student died after he fell off the terrace of his two-storey house on BPS Street at Pappanaickenpalayam on Friday morning.
Police identified the deceased as S Hariharasudhan, a final year BCom student in a private college at Sitra. Hariharasudhan’s mother Rajeswari had rented out the ground floor and second floor of the house, and was staying on the first floor with Hariharasudhan, her eldest son Surendar and her in-laws, police said.
“Hariharasudhan was preparing for the semester examination on Friday and was studying on the terrace on Thursday night. His grandmother had met him on the terrace around 12.30am on Friday and urged him to sleep. He told her that he would study for a while before taking rest,” a police officer said.
Tenants staying on the ground floor heard a sound around 3.30am and found Hariharasudhan in a pool of blood. They alerted his family and informed 108 ambulance service. Ambulance staff declared him dead.
Assistant commissioner R Vincent, who inspected the spot, said the young man might have sat on the parapet and lost his balance.
The Race Course police registered a case under Section 174 CrPC. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem. Police have seized Hariharasudhan’s cellphone. TNN
