60% in Gujarat clear PG NEET

AHMEDABAD: Some 4,713 students or 60. 25% of the 7,823 students from Gujarat who took the Postgraduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (PG NEET) 2021, cleared it. PG NEET is the entrance test for admission to postgraduate medical courses and was held on May 21. Nationally, 55. 84% of the 1,82,356 examinees cleared it.
Sources in the Admission Committee for Professional Postgraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPPGMEC) said Nisarg Sachani, a student from Gujarat, scored 690 marks and stood 7th in the country.
Sources said the committee has not yet received details of the results and further analysis will be available only after the committee gets them. Sources said the cutoff marks have come down from last year. For general category students the cutoff is 275, for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes the cutoff is 245, while for other reserved categories it is 260.
There are about 52,000 postgraduate medical seats in the country, while the state has 2,100 seats in various branches. Sources said many final-year medical students were demanding that PG NEET be postponed because their internships had not ended, but this demand was not considered. Sources said it is likely that the admissions process will begin only after their internship term ends.
